Meet the incredible Ruby, proud mother of 2-year old Cooper and a member of our team in New York. Ruby and her husband Adriaan love the hustle and bustle of their New York City life, and ever since Cooper’s birth they have adapted to a very different scene. "While living each day to the fullest", Ruby says, "mixing the work-life balance was a real wake-up call in comparison to life in Amsterdam." "Being a working mum in New York was a huge culture shock, but I love the challenge and I wouldn’t change a thing."
They say New York is the city that never sleeps, and for Ruby, that couldn't be more true. The most significant difference is the work ethic, so planning ahead really helps. "It can be tricky being a mum in a different culture," she says, "in this fast-paced environment I tend to block the time in my agenda to protect the precious moments with both of my boys."
"That’s where the Joolz Day³ with its upright freestanding fold comes in handy and gives me space to breathe".
They love spending their time together strolling around the city, so choosing the right stroller that suits both her and Cooper’s needs was important. Living in a tiny 2nd-floor apartment, she wanted to avoid lugging the stroller up and down the stairs. "That’s where the Joolz Day³ with its upright freestanding fold comes in handy and gives me space to breathe." During the long hot summer the ventilation in the cot made it the perfect space for Cooper. With so much to see, peeking through the ventilation gaps kept him entertained wherever they set off to stroll. The four-wheel suspension makes Cooper’s journey super comfortable.
Ruby tells us the ergonomic design of the Day³ brings greater comfort for them both. The adjustable footrest comes in handy when Cooper has another one of his growth spurts (and his clothes suddenly seem to have shrunk). "As Cooper grew longer, the footrest seemed to grow with him." So is it all about comfort? "Well of course, it is New York," she says smiling, "so only a stylish stroller will do." Ruby’s favourite accessory for the Joolz Day³ is the comfort cover. It keeps the hot sun out while ensuring Cooper keeps his cool. With temperatures above 30 degrees they can’t do without. "If we’re out and about and Cooper falls asleep, the comfort cover keeps him safe and protected; it blocks both sun and sounds which gives me peace of mind".

New York is an exciting place for the three of them to explore. “At first glance we imagined it would lack the facilities our family would need,” she laughs. However, the possibilities are endless and New Yorkers are creative. For example in Greenwich Village (lower Manhattan), the kids soak themselves under the water sprinklers next to the playground all-summer long. And is she not feeling a little homesick? “While the quality of life with children in the Netherlands is wonderful, we would never want to miss out on this adventure!”
